Richard Coppola

Richard Coppola is a Senior Advisor - Debt Capital Markets with Crossbow.  His primary focus is executing on the firm’s correspondent lending, debt advisory and sub-advisory relationships.

From 2016-2019, Rick was a senior consultant to the debt platform of Clarion Partners, a $50 billion global institutional real estate investment manager.  In this role, Mr. Coppola worked with Clarion’s senior management to strengthen and expand all aspects of their real estate lending platform.

Prior to working with Clarion, Mr. Coppola was Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets for TIAA-CREF (now Nuveen).  Rick spent thirty years with TIAA-CREF, holding senior management positions across the firm’s institutional real estate group.  Most recently, Rick was responsible for all debt and equity activity undertaken by the platform, including the financing of acquired/owned assets and the extension of credit/mortgages (senior, mezzanine and preferred equity) to third-party borrowers, all of which averaged $15 billion per annum in recent years.

During his tenure with TIAA-CREF, Mr. Coppola held a series of senior investment and executive management positions with significant authority for approving all new investments.  Rick was a member of the firm’s executive leadership team that oversaw all real estate debt and equity business in the U.S., built and managed a high performing national team in multiple locations across the nation and successfully integrated the views and investment acumen across the four disciplines of lending, borrowing, acquiring and selling of assets. 

Mr. Coppola was a member of the Board of Governors of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC), a member of the Executive Committee and a founding member of the Portfolio Lenders Forum within CREFC, and a Trustee with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).  Rick was also Chairman of the Board of the Life Mortgage and Real Estate Council, an organization comprised of most leading insurance company real estate investors.

Rick received his BBA from Hofstra University and his MBA from the Stern School of Business at NYU.  He maintains his Series 63 & 82 securities licenses.
